The SHYC are always looking for new members!
You can join using our online application form now or read on to find out what being a Youth Councillor involves…
SHYC is about giving something back to the community and finding innovative solutions to the issues affecting young people. We welcome young people from any background and meet in a relaxed and positive environment.
All this is at the same time as meeting new people and developing skills that will help with jobs, planning time, public speaking and more!
Meetings allow us to get together and plan for our latest project ideas. It also provides an opportunity to discuss any concerns or issues you want to raise.
Meetings are also a way to engage with any local councillors or organisations who are working to include young people’s input.
We encourage all young people 13-18 who live or go to school in Surrey Heath to join. The application process is just there to gain a little bit of insight into what you might enjoy contributing to - everyone is welcome!
Members are encouraged to contribute as much as they would like. Any of the skills below would be useful but are all something that you can learn as part of SHYC.
Hopefully we’ve answered all your questions about joining the SHYC. If not, feel free to email contact@surreyheathyc.org.uk, or DM us on social media!
